Attend a showing of the classic 1925 horror movie, “Phantom of the Opera,” with choral accompaniment by The Vancouver Master Chorale and orchestra. This will be the American premiere of music by Canadian composer Andrew Downing, whose “Phantom” music for chorus and seven instrumentalists debuted in Vancouver, B.C., in 2016.
Two concerts will be offered on the weekend before Halloween at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St., Battle Ground. Performances are 7 p.m. Oct. 29 and 3 p.m. Oct. 30. The program includes “Double Trouble” from the Harry Potter movie “Prisoner of Azkaban” and the ‘60s novelty song “The Monster Mash.” Battle Ground high school students will join Chorale members for the concerts, directed by Jana Hart. Tickets are $25, available at vancouvermasterchorale.org. The concert is free for those 16 and younger.
