As part of Earth Day awareness, Washington State University Vancouver will host a forum of local politicians, staff and activists to discuss the Vancouver Climate Action Framework from 10:35 to 11:40 a.m. April 20 in Room 129 of the Dengerink Administration Building, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. in Vancouver. An initiative of the city council, the framework is a blueprint to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience to climate change impacts. The event is free and open to the public.
Forum panelists are Kim Harless, Vancouver City Councilor; Sue Marshall, Clark County Councilor; Rebecca Small, senior policy analyst for the City of Vancouver and Don Steinke, Sierra Club Beyond Fossil Fuels Task Force. The panel will be moderated by Paul Thiers, professor of political science at WSU Vancouver. They will discuss the Framework’s origins and how it can stimulate cooperation and planning, such as disaster planning. The public is invited to participate in a Q&A session following the panel discussion. After the event, the program can be viewed on Comcast channels 21/321 and 23/323 and on cvtv.org.
