Northwood Public House and Brewery, 1401 S.E. Rasmussen Blvd. in Battle Ground Village, will be transformed into a Bavarian-style beer hall on Oct. 7 and 8 for Oktoberfest, featuring traditional German beer and food with live music and entertainment by Those Darn Accordions and Festival Brass. Kids will enjoy a coloring contest, balloon art and face painting while adults do the Chicken Dance and join the Strong Arm Stein-holding Competition. Northwood will set aside its regular menu to make room for sausages, Schweinshaxe (roasted pork shank), chicken schnitzel, whole roast pig stuffed with bratwurst, cabbage rolls, pierogi, spaetzle, sauerkraut and big German pretzels. Enjoy Bavarian beer from Germany’s Weihenstephan brewery along with Northwood’s Oktoberfest brew, Uncle Otto’s Marzen. Doors open at 11 a.m. each day and admission is free.
