Tacos, Tequila and Taps Festival at ilani

ilani presents “Tacos, Tequila and Taps,” July 20-22. Featuring some of the nation’s and region’s top taqueros and chefs, the festival invites attendees to enjoy handcrafted tacos and street fare with a variety of tequilas and mescals, beers, wines and seltzers. The weekend includes the Omakase Taco Dinner at 7 p.m. July 20, a Friday night celebrity chef dine-around from 7 to 9 p.m. July 21, and the main tasting events on ilani’s garage rooftop from noon to 9 p.m. July 22. Tickets range from $20 to $74.

The weekend includes appearances by James Beard Award-winner Bill Esparza, Executive Chef Jonathan Zaragoza of Birrieria Zaragoza and El Oso, and culinary master of Tijuana, Chef Guillermo “Oso” Campos. Joining Esparza, Zaragoza and Campos are some of Los Angeles’ most notable taco vendors including Teddy Vazquez of Teddy’s Red Tacos, Raul Ortega of Mariscos Jalisco and José Morales of Tacos La Carreta. Local restaurants and caterers will be showcased, including República, Chelo, Mis Tacones, Nom Nom, The Smokin’ Oak, Tierra del Sol, Little Conejo and Zarzo Cocina Mexicana.
