Reprise Choir offers three performances of “Beyond the Dawn” concert

Reprise Choir will offer three performances of its “Beyond the Dawn” concert at 7 p.m. March 16 at La Center Middle School, 2001 N.E. Lockwood Creek Rd, La Center, and at  7 p.m. March 18 and 19 at Vancouver First United Methodist Church, 401 E. 33rd St., Vancouver. The suggested donation to attend is $20, though all donations are welcome and none is required.

“Beyond the Dawn” is a concert celebrating the rising of the sun, blue skies, heavenly music, stars and their light and the “vast eternal sky” in choral music accompanied by strings, solo oboe and four-hand piano. Directors Janet Reiter and April Duvic have prepared a program of songs that draw attention to all things celestial: the sky, sun, stars and the heavens. Joining the choir on two works are local string players as well as Victoria Racz on oboe. Composers featured in the program include Mack Wilberg, George Harrison, Irving Berlin, Franz Joseph Haydn and Ola Gjeilo. Reprise Choir will perform the world premiere of “The Dawn” by Washington State composer Daniel Schreiner. Student singers from La Center Middle School and La Center High School will perform two selections and join Reprise Choir on works by Z. Randall Stroope and Joseph M. Martin.
