Auditions for “Matilda”

Journey Theater invites adults and children ages 8 and up to audition for the musical “Matilda,” based on the book by Roald Dahl, with performances from Aug. 4-12 at the Joyce Garver Theater in Camas. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. April 8 and from 5 to 10 p.m. April 10 and 13 at U.S. Digital, 1400 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver. Audtions are by appointment only in three-minute time slots and no walk-ins will be allowed. The cost to participate is $155 per cast member ages 8 to 18 and $50 per cast member ages 19 and up. Rehearsals are June 9 through July 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Child and adult actors are needed for various roles as well as dancers and singers for multiple ensemble roles. Auditionees should bring current headshots and theater resumes in addition to completed audition forms. Auditionees should prepare 16 bars (about 30 seconds) of a musical theater song that shows off vocal range and technical ability. No songs may be performed a cappella; auditionees must bring their own instrumental tracks. If auditioning for a specific role, auditionees should be familiar with songs from the show.
