The musical, based on the book by Terrance McNally and the movie by Fox Searchlight Pictures with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winner David Yazbek, is set in the 1980s and follows six unemployed steel mill workers from Buffalo, New York, as they become strippers in an act of financial desperation — a commentary on body consciousness, anxiety, toxic masculinity and working-class inequities.
