The 2022 BirdFest and Bluegrass will be entirely in person on Oct. 1. The City of Ridgefield will host in-town events, including vendors and music in Downtown Ridgefield. On the refuge, guests can enjoy a self-guided Carty Unit Refuge hike at 28908 N.W. Main Ave. with wandering trail stewards to answer questions, Sandhill Crane Tours, tours of the new refuge office building and van tours of the River ‘S’ Unit at 1071 S. Hillhurst Road. The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge will be fee-free on Oct. 1 and seasonal trails will be open for an extra day. Enjoy a vendor market and crafts in Overlook Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., orienteering in Abrams Park from 10 a.m. to noon and a used book sale at the Ridgefield Library Community Room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live bluegrass music will be offered around town from noon to 5 p.m. The public is welcome to bring their own instruments and join the jam.
