The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s 10th Anniversary Chamber Music Series begins with a performance inspired by the legacy of long-time cello section member and one of the orchestra’s significant supporters — Suzanne Rague. This performance at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver, will feature members of the orchestra’s cello section Dieter Ratzlaf, Erin Ratzlaf, and Jonah Thomas, as well as pianist Dr. Michael Liu and violinist Jeong Yoon Lee. The program will include works by Bach, Vivaldi, Faure, Kriesler, Popper, and a three-cello and piano arrangement of “Kol Nidre” by Max Bruch. The performance will also include arrangements of songs by The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, and others and will conclude with a favorite of Suzanne Rague’s – the piano trio “Ode to Life” by the contemporary Taiwanese composer Ching-Ju Shih.
