Theatre Diaspora presents a free staged reading of Min Kahng’s “Inside Out and Back Again” at 6:30 p.m. May 15 at Portland Center Stage, 128 N.W. 11th Ave., Portland. In this story inspired by Thanha Lai’s award-winning book of poetry, Min Kahng (playwright of “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon” at the Newmark Theatre April 30-May 28) follows ten-year-old Hà and her family, who flee Vietnam to become refugees in Alabama, where she dreams of her beloved papaya tree and struggles to adjust in a strange new land. The free reading will be followed by a panel discussion with former Vietnamese refugee Minh Tran, choreographer of “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.” Reserve a seat at eventbrite.com/e/inside-out-and-back-again-staged-reading-and-panel-discussion-tickets-617915119757.
