Birdhouse Books will host a free poetry reading with Christopher Diaz, Ayokunle Falomo and Jennifer Tullos from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at Birdhouse Books, 1001 Main St., Vancouver, in the basement level. The poetry reading is in conjunction with downtown Vancouver’s First Friday Art Walk.
Tullos is a content developer, researcher and educator in English and the humanities, advocating for equity-centered programs and practices. Her poetry has been featured on Write About Now and A+. Falomo is the Nigerian-American author of “Autobiomythography,” “AFRICANAMERICAN’T,” two self-published collections and the chapbook “African, American.” Diaz is a Chamorro poet, freelance photographer and military veteran. He has been featured by NBC news, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and Poets and Writers.org. He is a two-time grand slam champion of Houston’s slam poetry team, “Write About Now,” and recently competed with team (tbd) to win first place at the 2023 Bigfoot Regional Poetry Slam festival.
