All Saints Episcopal Church presents “American Fusion” gala, silent auction and concert from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at 2206 N.W. 99th St., Vancouver. The event is open to the public. The $35 ticket price includes catered hors d’oeuvres served by a local Boy Scout troop. To reserve tickets, contact Carol Sanza at 973-800-9268 or carolsanza@yahoo.com.
During the concert, guest musicians will perform four different sets, each focusing on a different genre of America’s “original” music, jazz. A Native American flute and piano duet will be followed by a jazz-inspired piano performance. Next, a brass ensemble will perform popular songs and a blues-infused jam session will close out the evening. The concert features pianist Jasnam Daya Singh, Composer in Residence for the Portland Chamber Orchestra.
Proceeds from the event will help local outreach projects such as BabiesinNeed.org, which operates a free diaper bank and provides car seats, layettes and supplies to struggling parents of newborns; the Lincoln Elementary School Partnership, which supports the resource center with food, supplies, back-to-school needs, backpacks, etc., for students living with poverty; and the Traveling Day Society, a drum circle supporting hospice patients, First Nations cultural education in schools and community events.
