The sixth annual PeaceHealth Apple Tree Marathon, “Run Through History,” will take participants on a flat, fast and scenic course through Fort Vancouver, Officer’s Row, the Army Barracks, Pearson Airport, past the Old Apple Tree and along the Columbia River. The marathon is a two-loop, spectator-friendly, Boston-qualifying with water stations every mile. The half marathon will offer the same experience. The Sunset 5K offers a shorter distance. Register online at whyracingevents.com/appletree-run/. Registration costs range from $50 for a “virtual” race to $500 for a First Responders’ Relay team. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the local Police Activities League.
The Sunset 5K is 6 p.m. Sept. 16. The marathon and First Responders’ Relay starts at 7 a.m. Sept. 17, followed by the half-marathon start at 8 a.m. Races start and finish at The Grant House, 1101 Officers Row, Vancouver. Enjoy post-race festivities in and around the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
