Black History Festival Northwest

From Feb. 1-March 4, join the celebration of Black culture and heritage in the Pacific Northwest showcasing over one hundred Black artists, businesses, leaders and organizations. The Black History Festival Northwest features numerous events from plays to intimate luncheons, from educational displays to drag shows. The festival will include:
- Youth-curated displays created by students from Harriet Tubman, Kairos PDX and Trinity Lutheran, housed at local Multnomah County Libraries and festival-sanctioned events from Feb. 6 to March 4. These students will represent their schools in the Black History game show on Feb. 28 for a chance to win $500 toward field trips and other arts activities.
- Flash Mob Dance: Local dancers, choreographers, students, and lovers of dance will perform Feb. 11 at the Portland Winter Light Festival
- Who I Am Celebrating Me, written and directed by Oregon native Shalanda Sims (Vanport the Musical and Redefining Alberta), features music, dancing, poetry and prose performed by local youth and adults at Alberta Abbey Feb. 23-26.
