The Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco will host an afternoon of “Caring for Your Family’s Treasures,” 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 18. This free event will be led by Collections Manager Donella Lucero and Curator Betsy Millard, and will cover the basics of preserving cherished family items such as photographs and textiles. This demonstration is in conjunction with the museum’s current special exhibit, “The Heart of the Museum Part I: The Aura of Objects,” on view until March 4. The show features recent accessions to the collection and links the importance of preserving the stories of an object, as well as the object itself. Participants are invited to bring items they may have questions about to the event.
