Vancouver Art Space is hosting a four-week portraiture course with instructor Sarah Hunter. The course will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 8 through Sept. 29, at Vancouver Art Space, located inside Vancouver Mall at 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, Suite 283. The cost is $175 for all four weeks.
This class will cover the basics of drawing and shading facial features, learning facial structure and proportions, tips for drawing hair, problem-solving common portrait pitfalls including tricky angles or expressions and capturing a likeness.
Students ages 16 and older will work in both graphite and charcoal and will work toward drawing portraits from individual photo references. Required supplies include a drawing pad, graphite and charcoal pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners.
