Introduction to Wildlife Tracking

June 24, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$60

TreeSong Nature Awareness Center will offer “Introduction to Wildlife Tracking” from 1 to 5 p.m. May 13 and again from 1 to 5 p.m. June 24 in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This is a half-day class to introduce the art and science of visual tracking in the wild. Class will meet in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest for an exercise in track and sign observation featuring the “corral” learning process. A rectangular area containing interesting things will be marked out, creating a corral that can be viewed from the outside of the lines. Students will be asked to observe the area, write down all their observations then discuss the results. Students should be over 18 and dress for the weather at a higher elevation, including a hat, long pants and closed-toe shoes. Attendees should bring a notebook and writing implements, water, snacks, bug repellent, sunscreen and a small camp chair or something to sit on. Binoculars may also be helpful. The cost is $60 per person. Register at treesongnatureawareness.org/class-registration/intrototracking23.
