St. Luke’s~San Lucas Episcopal Church, 426 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. in Vancouver, continues its jazz vespers series at 6 p.m. June 24 under the leadership of musician and educator Mike Horsfall. Saxophonist David Evans will be the featured guest. Admission is free and a freewill offering will be taken at the service.
Alabama native Evans is a busy commercial and jazz musician, performing with Pete Fountain, B. B. King, Mose Allison, Johnny Mathis, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops and The Temptations, Evans is the former musical director of the National Historic Landmark steamboat Delta Queen. He has taught at Marylhurst University, Western Oregon University and at Lewis and Clark College.
