Love Street Playhouse presents “The Spitfire Grill,” playing at 126 Loves Ave., Woodland, from Sept. 6 to 29. Single tickets to this musical based on the 1996 film by Lee David Zlotoff are $35 at www.lovestreetplayhouse.com or 800-966-8865. The plot centers on Percy Talbott, a young woman recently released from prison who seeks a fresh start in Gilead, Wisconsin, inspired by a photo in an old travel book. Percy finds employment at the Spitfire Grill, a dilapidated diner owned by the demanding yet kind-hearted Hannah Ferguson. Hannah decides to hold a raffle for the grill, awarding it to the person who writes the best essay about why they want it. The plan reinvigorates the struggling town. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 26, 27 and 28. Matinee shows are 2 p.m. Sept. 8, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29.
