Lucibela performs at The Old Church

West African-born singer Lucibela will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at The Old Church Concert Hall, 1422 S.W. 11th Ave., Portland. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 on the day of the show. Purchase tickets here. Lucibela will perform songs from her latest album, “Amdjer.”

Cape Verde, off the coast of West Africa, is known for morna, a kind of folk music sung in Cape Verdean Creole. Lucibela uses morna stylings in her music, as well as coladeira, dance music associated with ballroom dancing. Lucibela is currently based out of Lisbon, Portugal.
