Based on Disney’s 2006 movie “High School Musical,” the play centers on the blossoming relationship between Troy, a high school jock, and Gabriella, a smart girl. Their relationship and their surprise decision to audition together for the school show are thwarted by the school’s current leading lady, Sharpay, and Troy and Gabriella’s well-meaning friends. When the drama club diva arranges to set up a clash of Troy’s big game with Gabriella’s science decathlon, friends on both sides emerge to save the day.
