The Historic Music Preservation Project presents The Ne Plus Ultra Jass Orchestra live at the Kiggins Theatre at 7 p.m. March 17. The ensemble, which specializes in recreating the lush, fully orchestrated sounds of the pioneer jazz bands and hotel orchestras of the 1920s and 30s, returns to Kiggins with guest vocalists Marilyn T. Keller, Felicia Heaton, and Tyler Andrew Jones. Sammuel Murry-Hawkins will lead the 12-piece ensemble through tunes by top Tin Pan Alley songwriters, including works by George Gershwin and Irving Berlin. Audiences will recognize tunes from early American movie musicals in addition to the best loved Charlestons, foxtrots and tangos of the era. Tickets are $25 at kigginstheatre.com.
