TreeSong Nature Awareness and Retreat Center will host an all-day birding trip to the Oregon Coast on Feb. 25. Instructor Laura Whittemore will lead participants in walking explorations of bays, estuaries, rocky shores and headlands while watching for coastal winter residents like scoters, murres, loons, grebes, oystercatchers, surfbirds and turnstones. Transportation will be via carpool and caravan, likely starting at Tillamook. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. The start and end times are subject to change.
Whittemore has taught classes for Audubon Society of Portland and previously worked for Backyard Bird Shop. She holds a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and has traveled in the U.S.A., Australia, South Africa and Antarctica in search of birds. Registration is required at treesongnatureawareness.org/class-registration/oregoncoastfieldtrip2023. The trip fee ranges from $75 to $115. Email hello@treesongnatureawareness.org for a BIPOC discount.
