The horrific crashes of four hijacked passenger planes on Sept. 11, 2001, were repeated endlessly on television. But the public didn’t hear the many simultaneous stories evolving behind the scenes among airline officials, air traffic controllers and federal agents frantically trying to learn what was happening and determine how to stop it. Those telephone and radio communications were recorded, however, and form the background for Re-Imagined Radio’s stories of what happened behind the indelible images of 9/11.
