Re-Imagined Radio presents “Radio Women”

Re-Imagined Radio celebrates Women’s History Month with “Radio Women,” featuring women who contributed to the growth of radio beginning in the 1930s as writers, comedians, actors and hosts. “Radio Women” premieres at 1 p.m. March 18 on KXRW-FM (99.9), Vancouver, and KXRY-FM (91.1 and 107.1), Portland. The program focuses on Lucille Fletcher, writer for CBS, best known for writing “The Hitch-Hiker” and “Sorry, Wrong Number;” Edith Meiser, the writer who introduced Sherlock Holmes to American radio audiences in the 1930s; Ruth Woodman, writer for “Death Valley Days;” Mary McBride, interview host and writer for “The Mary Margaret McBride Show;” Jean King, talk show hostess and singer for “Lonesome Gal;” Cathy Lewis, the actress best known for “My Friend Irma;” Margaret Lynch, comedy writer and actress for “The Couple Next Door;” and Gracie Allen, the comedian who starred with her husband, George Burns, on “The Burns and Allen Show.” Learn more at reimaginedradio.fm.
