The Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver, will host a Winter Solstice walk from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 21. The winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere is the shortest day of the year. After winter solstice, each day will gain more light until the summer solstice in June. Take an afternoon walk along the banks of the Columbia River, watch the sunset in the southwestern sky, and celebrate the winter solstice as it ushers in the return of the light and longer days. This is a free, all-ages nature walk. Registration is required at cityofvancouver.us/publicworks/webform/sunset-solstice-walk.
