TreeSong Nature Awareness Center presents “The Artful Field Journal Series: Watercolors in the Wild” with Andie Thrams. This is a continuing series of monthly online classes for field journal keepers, plein air artists and painters to paint with increasing ease both indoors and out. The second class is 9:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 11. Step-by-step sequences explore watercolor and gouache painting techniques, drawing, color studies, tools of the trade, field journal approaches, artist book creation, botanicals, composition and design, tips for painting outdoors and how these practices can kindle joy and deepen a connection to nature and to others.
In this class, students will create a collection of sampler pages exploring mark-making and composition basics using ink, pencil and paint on paper. Studies in black and white examine design concepts including, balance, contrast, movement, value, texture, symmetry, rhythm, pattern and focus. All experience levels are welcome. Classes will be recorded and available online at treesongnatureawareness.org for two weeks. Register at treesongnatureawareness.org/class-registration/afjmarkgesturecomposition23. Class fees range from $10 to $47.
