The Trinity Choir of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Kol Echad Choir of Congregation Beth Israel and Pacific Youth Choir will present “The Road Home: Songs of Belonging, Safety, and Hope,” a concert of choral music at Congregation Beth Israel, 1972 N.W. Flanders St., Portland. Featuring music from composers Stephen Paulus, Leonard Bernstein, Ben Steinberg, Shawn Kirchner, Susan LaBarr, Jake Runestad and Pacific Youth Choir’s artistic director Christopher Maunu, the ecumenical program will draw on themes of safety, the immigrant experience and efforts to care for all members of the human family. Kenyan-born artist, performer and writer Brandt Maina will read poetry and representatives from local outreach organizations will offer their reflections as will members of Portland’s “Community Profile” group. Admission is free but donations are welcome to support participating organizations.
