The next meeting of the Vancouver Audubon Society is 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 2 at Evergreen Public Schools Administration Service Center, 13413 N.E. LeRoy Haagen Memorial Drive, Vancouver. The meeting will feature Nathan Ulrich, conservation lead with Columbia Land Trust, who will talk about Oregon White oak and the characteristics that make it such good habitat for wildlife and birds. Ulrich will describe why the purchase and conservation of a property in the Klickitat River drainage known as Klickitat Oaks (which Vancouver Audubon supported with a large donation) was rated as top priority for Critical Habitat protection in the state by Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program’s 2023-2025 grants program.
