Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver, will host “Bird Language for Beginners” from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 30. Students will learn how to decipher the language of birds and understand the story they’re broadcasting from the treetops. This class, which is designed for adults and kids ages 10 and older, will introduce bird sound mapping and sit spots. Students should bring reusable plastic bags to sit on outside. This free nature program will occur outdoors, rain or shine. Participants should expect to walk 1.5 miles on paved and uneven, sandy or muddy terrain, and plan to sit outside for 30-40 minutes. Binoculars will be provided. Register at cityofvancouver.us/events/bird-language-for-beginners/.
