Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge will host Winter Birding Hikes at 8 a.m. Dec. 2, Dec. 9 and Jan. 13 at the Carty Unit of the Refuge. Registration is required at ridgefieldfriends.org. While walks generally last two to three hours, attendees are welcome to leave earlier. Walks are free but the $3 refuge daily fee does apply. Hikes are led by Ron Escano or Robert Vanderkamp.
