The Historic Trust will celebrate the 175th birthday of The Grant House, the first home built on Officers Row, with a free afternoon open house and outdoor party from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 14. The event features live music, family activities and complimentary cupcakes. Built in 1849, the house at 1101 Officers Row in Vancouver is named in honor of General Ulysses S. Grant. Attendees can see interpretive exhibits, attend a history talk in the East Parlor, enjoy lawn games, participate in arts and crafts and a hear a performance by the children’s band Ants Ants Ants at 3 p.m. Willful Wine at the Grant House will be open for business during the event, with seating and a full menu for all ages.
