“A Teacher Goes to War” with author Jeff Dacus

Retired Vancouver School District teacher, author and historian Jeff Dacus will present “A Teacher Goes to War” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Clark County Historical Museum, 1511 Main Street, Vancouver. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Dacus will discuss his book “Desert Storm Marines: A Marine Tank Company in the Gulf,” the story of a group of young men from all corners of Washington who were called into service during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. They went to Saudi Arabia and a few weeks later returned to assume their civilian occupations. They were truly “citizen-soldiers.”

Dacus (MSgt. USMC ret.) is also the author of “Fighting Corsairs: The Men of Marine Fighting Squadron” and “Perceptions of Battle: Washington’s Victory at Monmouth.”
