The WSU Clark County Extension Master Gardener Program is hosting a hands-on, in-person Blueberry Pruning Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 25 at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver. First, view a recorded video at youtube.com/watch?v=v7MOKxTUQFo about blueberry pruning basics: When to prune, choosing which canes to cut and where to cut them. (You may view the video without registering for the in-person portion.) Then come to the demonstration blueberry field to practice your skills. This entails a 5- to 10-minute walk up a steep hill. Those with mobility issues may drive. Dress for the weather and bring water, garden gloves and a pair of sharpened loppers or hand bypass pruners if you have them. The cost is $10. A limited number of reduced rate tickets are available for those with financial need by contacting the event organizer. Attendees must register at eventbrite.com/e/hands-on-in-person-blueberry-pruning-workshop-tickets-477577516207. For details, call 564-397-5738 or email erika.d.johnson@wsu.edu.
