Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardeners and Rose City Astronomers for a free star-viewing event with telescopes from 7:3o to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, located at Northeast 78th Street and Northeast 19th Court in the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver. Weather permitting, families with children ages 7 and up can explore stars, planets and other celestial objects through telescopes courtesy of Rose City Astronomers. Attendees will also learn about some of the creatures who are active at night. Participants will move around the 78th Street Heritage Farm in a small group accompanied by guides, who will use special red flashlights that don’t disturb night creatures. This event will take place fully outside. Attendees should dress for cool nighttime temperatures and wear comfortable but sturdy shoes. Bring a thermos with something warm to drink and a snack.
