Vancouver Public Works will offer a tour of the Marine Park Wastewater Treatment Plant from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. March 25. Participants should meet at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. Learn what happens to the water that goes down your drain. How far does it travel? Where does it go after it is cleaned? After the tour, walk to the Columbia River to learn about the riparian ecosystem. The treatment plant tour and nature walk will last approximately one hour each.
Participants should be at least 10 years old and wear closed toe shoes. The tour will occur both inside and outside, rain or shine. Attendees should dress for all weather conditions. For the stroll to the Columbia River, expect to walk 1.5 miles on paved pathways and uneven and sandy beaches.
Registration is required at cityofvancouver.us/publicworks/webform/hidden-journey-wastewater. Attendees will receive a confirmation letter with full event details and meeting location after registration.
